I slept in a walmart parking lot (and other things…)

This last month has been crazy, fun and so full of life. This is it, in a nutshell.

Ich werde in den nächsten paar Tagen die deutsche Übersetzung posten. (I’m going to post the german translation in the next few days)

September 4th – I enjoy one last bbq with my family and best friends around our table at home. We laugh and cry and eat and smoke cigars.

September 5th – After two hours of sleep (because I’m the master of procrastination and basically had to stay up all night doing adult/legal things. Yay to leaving the country for 8 months!) my parents drive me to the airport.

September 5th – Zurich – Frankfurt – Seattle. Jarod picks me up in Seattle.

September 6th – Long Beach, Washington. First time driving a car on the beach. Surfing.

September 7th – Oregon Coast is insane. Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach! Surfing and sunset on the beach.

September 10th – Reunion with Brandon, Elle and Ashley. Hiking, waterfalls, good conversations.

September 11th – Redding! We left Brandons place saturday night, drove six hours to Redding, got there in the middle of the night and slept in a Walmart parking lot in our truck (lifegoals. Just kidding. I’m still surprised we didn’t get murdered). Went to Bethel Church in the morning. Drove down to Big Sur after that.

September 12th – Big Sur!

September 13th – San Clemente, California. The place that holds so many people I love.

September 14th – Night rock climbing with the Abelsens and Brett. Hard goodbyes.

September 15th – Venice Beach. Redeye flight LAX-ATL.

September 16th – Arriving in Gainesville! Moving into my new place, the farmhouse. Welcome dinner at night.

September 17th – Breakfast with the farmily.

September 19 – 22nd – Welcome Week CGA. No phones, no computers. I value that time focusing on community and my relationship to God. I fell in love with the people.

September 22 – 25th – Awakening Conference at the AIM base. I walked away encouraged and inspired.

September 26th – Orientation Day 1. Lots of information.

September 28th – First day of Field Leadership Track. People cried. I cried. Feeling convicted and knowing that this will challenge every single area of my life. But at the same time I’m so excited to grow and learn more.

September 29th – Papa Deon talks to us. God’s character, everything He says He is, is predictable. But God’s actions, what He does is unpredictable.

September 30th – Team Builders in Leadership Track. That’s right, team builders. The ones from Training Camp.

October 1st – Coffee and good conversations with new friends.

October 3rd – House dinner at night, Farmilytime. Sharing stories with my new housemates.

October 4th – Talking about goals during Class. Setting those halfmarathon goals. Lord help me. Haha.

October 5th – First time playing ultimate frisbee.

October 6th – Talking about emotions.

October 10th – Beauty for Ashes Womens Retreat. Later that night mamasharp got a battlewound playing flag football.

October 11th – Andrew teaches on theology.

October 12th – Snack Attack at 3pm at the office.

October 13th – Learning that bitter root judgements are sinful reactions to painful events.

I hope you enjoyed hearing a little bit about my life here. I’m having such a great time! And I am so excited to live these next few months here and be a part of this.
